United Voices Foundation & Welcoming Atlanta Work in the Community to Increase Census Responses

There is no greater power for change than the community coming together to serve itself. For the past month, we have been able to feed 300 families Monday through Friday while also teaching them about the #2020Census. Many individuals were hesitant about filling out the census and how it would affect them. But once we took the time to explain why they should participate and how it would benefit them, they participated and now, their voice counts. Sometimes, all the community needs is for someone to take the time to educate and walk them through the process. There is a need for education, resources, and hands on deck. No hay poder mayor para el cambio que la comunidad uniéndose para servirse a sí misma. Durante el último mes, hemos podido alimentar a 300 familias de lunes a viernes al mismo tiempo que les enseñamos sobre el Censo. Muchas personas dudaban si debían completar el Censo y cómo los afectaría. Pero una vez que tomamos el tiempo para explicar porqué deberían participar y cómo los beneficiaría, participaron y ahora su voz cuenta. A veces, todo lo que la comunidad necesita es que alguien se tome el tiempo para educarlos y guiarlos a través del proceso. Hay una necesidad de educación, recursos y manos a la obra.
